UNYFEAT is planning to bring the program back next year, probably the last week in June, before summer programs begin. We would welcome volunteers to run/spot the children as they progress through the week. Stay tuned to the website for other great programming, especially as the new school year begins. There are plans for a 2 day Conference with a specialist training the SCERTS Model, which is all about regulating the child's emotional level, a First Responders' Training, because ASD kids have different responses to emergency personnel and situations, and lots of support discussions and workshops. This is a spectrum disorder that is near and dear to my heart! I am a social worker by trade and work with children that have Autism or Aspergers. They make my day so much brighter then it could be! Some of the most rewarding work I have ever done! We need more people speaking out about this disorder just because it isn't 150% clear and how children develop it.
