The Prom
Last weekend at a family get together we got talking about our proms, b/c my 15yr old cousin is going to her boyfriend’s prom in the next few weeks.
When you mention prom to me I don’t have terrible memories but I don’t have spectacular ones either. For both my Junior and Senior proms I went with guy friends so it wasn’t a romantic night by any means.
A week before my Junior prom, my date, who was my best guy friend started to date my best girl friend. Yup, the entire night I spent it with her date or stealing other people’s dates.
Ok so let’s get back to the prom my cousin is going to…here are some of the questions I have:
1- How much is a reasonable amount to spend?
2- Who should pay for it all?
3- The prom ends at 11:30pm so when is curfew? It’s her boyfriend’s prom not her prom should that be a factor?

Prom. Ugh….
OK…It’s a special occasion, therefore she should be allowed out after curfew. At 15, there is no need to be out later than 2AM. Have her home for at lease then.
Her boyfriend should pay for all the trimmings, ie: corsage, transportation.
Parents should foot-the-bill for the dress, hair appointment, and anything else to add to her elegance.
That’s my liberal mind at work on that one…I think I would make a good parent. lol
