The Prom

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Last weekend at a family get together we got talking about our proms, b/c my 15yr old cousin is going to her boyfriend’s prom in the next few weeks.
When you mention prom to me I don’t have terrible memories but I don’t have spectacular ones either.  For both my Junior and Senior proms I went with guy friends so it wasn’t a romantic night by any means.
A week before my Junior prom, my date, who was my best guy friend started to date my best girl friend.  Yup, the entire night I spent it with her date or stealing other people’s dates.

Ok so let’s get back to the prom my cousin is going to…here are some of the questions I have:
1- How much is a reasonable amount to spend?
2- Who should pay for it all?
3- The prom ends at 11:30pm so when is curfew?  It’s her boyfriend’s prom not her prom should that be a factor?

Is this for real?

I’m just sitting here checking out my favorite sites looking for stuff to talk about on tomorrow’s show and this is what I stumble upon…

A book called “It’s Just a Plant”

A book for pot smoking parents to teach their kids about smoking marijuana?!  Really???

I started to read the book online and it’s just weird, at least to me it is.
I’m all for parents talking their kids about the “uncomfortable” topics like sex and drugs but this isn’t the book I would refer to.  Would you?

This is page 2 of the book:

“One night, Jackie woke up past her bedtime.

She smelled something funny in the air, so she walked down the hall to her parents’ bedroom.

Would you wear these?

Brazilian designer Sandra Tanimura said she decided to introduce the designs as her customers wanted very low trousers - but had difficulty keeping them up.

I almost wish I could look this good if I wore these.  Maybe before I became a mom

What do you think?
1- Nasty! I wouldn’t be caught dead in them, I’m offended
2- Hot! If I had the body I would wear them
3- These are cute, where can I buy them?

(Miley Cyrus will probably like these)

The marriage gene?

marriage.jpgAre there some people who are just not cut out for marriage? Does it take a certain genetic make up or personality trait?

One of my good friends is having issues finding “Mr. Right”.  She’s beautiful, sweet, funny has a great body so she doesn’t have problems finding guys to date, it’s sticking with them and not getting bored or irritated. She says that she’s just not “made for marriage”.

I say, out of the things that irritate you, decide what you can live with because you are always going to find something that bugs you.  And if it doesn’t bother you initially it may 5yrs down the road. Right?

Marriage is like anything else, it’s what you make it out to be.  Of course, you should never stay in a marriage that is not safe.  But otherwise it’s work, it craves attention.  If it’s not new…it’s through.

Maybe, it’s not wether your “marriage material” but if you’re willing to give up your selfish side. Because after getting married it’s not all about you anymore.

The  priest at my wedding was awesome, he made up the 10 Commandments of Marriage. (If I didn’t have to transcribe comandments.jpgthem I would post them all)

8th Commandment: Never put anything or anyone before each other. What ought to be the determining factor is not what’s best for the career, or what’s best for the pocketbook or even what’s best for the kids BUT what is best for the relationship. Neglect the whole world before you neglect each other

 Awww… How sweet :)

Married to the boss…

officeromance.jpgThe other day someone at work commented that if they didn’t know any better they would have never thought Danger and I were married. They said it was weird that we didn’t act like we’re husband and wife.  Is it weird or is it a good thing?

I guess it’s 2nd nature for us not to show PDA in the office.  No one wants to see that.  How awkward would it be, during a morning show mtg I’m rubbing Danger’s leg :)

That’s probably why our office romance works.  We know that fine line of what’s professional behavior. Work stays at work and home stays at home.

So if you’re in doubt of having an office romance…there you go.

I’m all for it.  You can keep your eye on him;)
